Serengeti National Park
Overview
The Serengeti in northern Tanzania is one of the most famous wildlife destinations in the world. Covering over 15,000 km², it shares the same ecosystem with Kenya’s Masai Mara, forming an incredible natural theater for wildlife spectacles. Known for its vast plains, rich biodiversity, and the world-renowned wildebeest migration, the Serengeti remains an unmatched safari experience.
The Great Wildebeest Migration
-
One of the greatest highlights is the wildebeest migration, often referred to as the “Greatest Show on Earth.”
Calving Season (January–March): Around 8,000 wildebeest calves are born daily in the Ndutu region of the south. This season attracts predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs, creating thrilling sightings.
March–June: The herds move northward across the plains in search of greener pastures.
July–October: Wildebeest cross the crocodile-infested Mara River into Kenya’s Masai Mara, creating dramatic encounters with predators.
November–December: The herds return south, completing the cycle.
